My wife (Linda)'s father Jan, came from a village named Bunie Poland, but we can not find this on any map. His name was Jan Babicz, born 1st November 1928. There were 6 children in the family including Jan's sister Weronika. When WW2 began the mother and four children were sent to a Russian orphanage we think. Jan and Weronika were taken to Germany (as workers we believe). After the war Jan went to England and worked in coal mines (residence believed to be Bedhampton Camp, Havant, UK - 1948). Wreaking married in Germany then settled in Adelaide, South Australia. She sponsored Jan to come to Australia. He arrived 15th April 1952. Jan married Barbara Pszczolinski on 27th February 1954. Jan and Barbara had two children Mark (18th October 1955 & Linda 23rd October 1959). Jan died (motor cycle accident) May 1960. Weronika died 28th August 2015. Linda has two children from 1st marriage (Michael 25th April 1983 & Cassandra 28th May 1985). Linda has no known living relatives.
We understand that there were millions of displaced Polish people as a result of WW2. I am a 5th generation Australian and can only imagine the heart break and pain that Polish people went through. The scars will last for a few more generations to come but strength of survival will last forever. I feel so sad that Linda will probably never know her fathers broader family.
If it is at all possible could you provide any information on where Bunie is/was and any Babicz family information. I will understand if you are unsuccessful.
Yours Sincerely

Hello David,
In respons to your story we would like to tell you our part of the history. My name is Janusz Gasperowicz, but my surname was originaly written as 'Kasparewicz', it was slightly changed by my father after WW2. I'm 65 years old and I live on Poland in West Pomerania region. My mother Helena and father Wiktor came from village Buni, my mother's surname was 'Babicz' and she was born in 1911 and my father was born in 1907. I visited Buni and this region in 1969 with my father who was still alive back then. My mother died in 1965 and fahter has passed away in 1990. During the WW2 my parents were moved as a compulsory workers to Germany. In 1947 they came back to Poland and settled down in the West Pomeranian region. My parents had a daugter Leokadia born in 1946 and a son (me) born in 1953. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Kind regards, Januszreply
